Thanks for exposing OUR and Ballard. I hate how in the film they have this "savior complex", but the worst part and one of the biggest inconsistencies of the film related to this is that one of the characters; Vampiro is deemed a "hero" because he buys the children and then releases them, when in fact what he is only doing is fueling the demand for children making the problem worse. I just wanted to point out even more suspicious data related to this. Eduardo Verastegui, one of the main producers and actors of the film, recently announced his intention to run as a candidate in the presidential elections of my country(Mexico) that will take place next year https://mexico.as.com/tikitakas/quien-es-eduardo-verastegui-actor-que-se-registro-como-aspirante-independiente-a-la-presidencia-n/ and if you check his recent tweets he is trying to gather more support, of course using the film.
Actually 500kish, I cant remember the exact salary Ballard makes seems very reasonable after giving it more thought. All my kids are in public schools, no one in college yet. Ballard looks like he has some college aged kids.
To be fair, I dont know if the wife works. Doubt it, shes got 9 kids
We agree on one thing. Americans/the United States doesnt know how to solve other countries problems BUT will intervene when beneficial to the US. Example: the United States govt knew about the drug trafficking in Columbia when it started and how it was growing. It didnt intervene and even set up a DARE program after it realized how much money was going back to Mexico and ultimately South America. Hence the free trade act.
1. If the US govt was fighting human trafficking “so well” and Im assuming still does why has the problem worsened? If the govt cant get a handle on it, how can Ballard/OUR?
Human trafficking is by estimates a 321 billion dollar per year industry. (Lets go back to the free trade act-the US will step in, when its the right time).
2. The pimp and the orphanage manager survived questioning and “starvation”. The accusations are heinous. But lets take the word of a pimp and make sure the woman is fed first and foremost.
3. My household makes an income of about 250k, theres 7 of us. Not sure what Ballards expenses are or where he lives but 500kish sounds appropriate for a family of 9 and with his line of work.
And the comment by Gutierrez in this thread is probably the most inappropriate paragraph Ive read yet. Suggesting rescuing TRAFFICKED CHILDREN fuels the problem and creates demand? Imagine the pure terror countless children have had to endure alone, hoping to be rescued, and no one comes.
The US/US citizens is the biggest consumer of child trafficking.
If you stop rescuing children it just stops the rescuing. The consumer is still there.
And is it being suggested Eduardo funded his whole candidacy off OUR funds or the movies profit?
so cool!
